PGP 3.2.X to SEMS 3.3.2

Hi,

We are planning to upgrade our PGP server to SEMS 3.3.x during this we logged a call and during our discussion with Symantec, their tech person said to DELETE the ignition key before doing the upgrade.

Once the upgrade is done then create a new Ignition Key (IK).

Here I have a doubt, 

1. what will be the effect on the PGP activities if we delete the existing key?

2. What will be affect of new key if it is created after upgrade?

3. But as per Symantec KB document, it said IK is must and shouldn't delete/ recreate at any point of time as it will be used for encryption/ decryption of the messages etc...

Please advice how to go about on this.
