I'm testing a trial version of Symantec Encryption Server with the intention of using it to manage Symantec Drive Encryption on domain workstations. I've followed the evaluation guide for Drive Encryption and the Management Server seems to be running fine in Hyper-V on Server 2008. I've encrypted one Windows 7 workstation by logging in to the management portal from the workstation and downloading the client from Consumers > Groups > Download Client, then installed the software on the workstation and encrypted the C and D drives, which appeared to complete successfully.
I was under the impression that, during enrollment (or possibly post-encryption), that the workstation was supposed to communicate its details including decryption key to the server for recordkeeping. The workstation is finished encrypting, but thus far, all subtabs of Consumers > Devices in the management portal are empty. Does a trial license not communicate with a management server?
